Rio giggled, “It has been quite an amazing day, I have to agree.” She looked at the shops, trying to pick which ice cream parlor was the best. “Yeah! Let’s go to that one!” She pointed to one called “Scoops” that was a few stores down from where they were. As they continued to walk and converse, Rio thought about the ice-cream to make sure nothing could go wrong. Something that wouldn’t make a mess or look gross. She thought she’d ask Neil what he had in-mind. “So, what kind of ice cream do you think you’ll get?” She smiled, again.
Trying to follow her glance as she looked to all the parlors, when she finally pointed out one with a sign that read “Scoops” over the top of it, he nodded and started to head over to the shop with her. “Um I don’t know” he said biting his lip as he tried to decide what ice cream to it “Probably something like mint chocolate chip” he said shrugging with a smile as they walked through the doors of the cool ice cream shop that was luckily not to crowded. Walking up to the counter, displaying all the ice cream in all different colors and flavors he turned to Rio “What ice cream do you want?” he asked motioning to the jars “Anything you want” Neil reassured with a soft smile.
“My day?” She said, walking out of the doors. “Well, at first it was boring. Yanno, everyone was tired from the Luau. But now It’s become the honest to god best day ever.” She smiled. “The weather’s beautiful, and we’re together. What more is there to ask for?” She led them up to the main street, which would soon bring them onto the boardwalk. “What about you?” She grinned.
Nodding in acknowledgement he smiled as he listen to what she was saying about the Luau, smiling when she added the bit about it being the best day ever. “My day was pretty normal, well until all of this happened” he said chuckling, rubbing the back of his neck with his free hand. As they started walking onto the boardwalk he smiled “It has panned out to be a pretty amazing day, hasn’t it” he admitted chuckling as they walked along the many little shops. “So do you have a favorite place to go or something, because I’m not really sure where I’m going” he admitted sheepishly shooting her an adoring smile.
Rio smiled, swinging their hands back and forth, just as kids do in kindergarten. “That shouldn’t be a problem! There’s lots of great places on the boardwalk! The only problem will be picking the best one.” She giggled, looking at Neil. As they came to the elevator, Rio used her free hand to hit the arrow down button to take them to the lobby. She was extatic, since this was her first date in awhile, especially with someone she knew she’d loved. She wanted to make sure everything was perfect. As they stepped in the elevator, she hit the “L” button, looking at Neil again, grinning.
Neil chuckled softly as she started to swing their arms together, doing the same in sync with her. “Oh well in that case, you can pick wherever you want” he offered brightly as he went into the elevator with her, watching as she pressed the elevator to go down to the lobby. He couldn’t help but be somewhat extremely excited not only had it been his first date in a while, it was his first date with some he actually and truly did care about a lot. Honestly, he still couldn’t believe that she had agreed to date him. Waiting for the elevator to reach the floor “So how has your day been, Rio?” he asked kindly as he looked down at her, leading her through the now opened elevator doors and out of the lobby.
Rio took one last look in the mirror before answering the door. “Coming!” She shouted, enthusiastically, smiling at the fact he’d just called her “sweetheart.” She fixed her hair once more, then walked over to the door, casually enough. She slowly opened it, for effect. “Hi!” She said, smiling even bigger than she had when he called her sweetheart. She couldn’t believe they were going out, alone, in this sort-of mood. “Ready to go?” She said, grabbing her purse from the table that sat next to the door, giving a look of readiness.
Sticking his hands in his pocket nervously, Neil bit his lip slightly as he waited for her to come answer the door. At the sound of her voice he couldn’t help but smile but actually seeing her step out from her room made him grin. “Hello” he replied brightly, as he nodded in agreement “Yup, I’m ready” he replied nodding. Watching her join him out in the hallway, he was kind of unsure on what to do next more so if he should take her hand or not. Looking down nervously, he softly grabbed her hand in his and started to walk further down the hallway. “You might have to help me find an ice cream place, Rio, I haven’t been here too long but I’m sure we’ll find one on the board walk” he reassured happily as they walked.
Neil was still in some kind of a surprised shock. However, it wasn’t bad evident by the idiotic smile on his face, this was just all overwhelming. He would have never thought in a million years that he would end up in a situation anywhere close to the one he was in at the moment. For starters he never imagined himself at this hotel, a glamorous 5-star hotel and then meeting Rio again here was something he expected in the least. Still the most shocking of it all is that they were together now. Just the thought of her being his girlfriend made extremely giddy. Over many years, Rio ended up being actually the only girl he ever wanted. She seemed to be the only person that understood him and that accepted that he wasn’t going to be the most secure and outgoing person ever. It felt good to be accepted but it felt even better to be liked by her. Honestly, he still couldn’t believe that she had feelings for him or that she actually agreed; but he was lucky and he knew he could never take this for granted.
Getting up from his position laying on his bed, he smiled at the idea of actually being able to see her now. Now that they weren’t just friends. Looking down at what he was wearing; black shorts and a white tank top he wasn’t really sure if that’s what he should go in. No matter how much he tried, Neil wouldn’t ever feel secure so knowing that he sighed slightly and tried to convince himself that it was okay. Grabbing his phone, and his wallet as he would need it to get them the ice cream, he pulled his sun glasses to the bridge of his nose. Checking a last time to make sure he had his room key, he bit his lip as he started to make his way over to Rio’s room. After a not so far walk, he nervously stood at the door for a bit before taking his fist to it and knocking gently. “Rio” he called out from his side of the door “It’s Neil, sweetheart” he announced, smiling to himself as he employed the nickname.
Yummy! let’s go!
Sounds great, I’ll go get you!
Yes! You get to pick where.
How about we go get some ice cream? Ice cream is always nice
Me too, we’ve gotta let it sink it. We could go somewhere and let it sink in, even. Heh.
That actually sounds fantastic, we should go somewhere. Our first couple adventure, it should be fun
